"The westbound Southwestern Limited was rolling through Daleville when this photo was made in 1954 -- 17 years before passenger service was discontinued on the line.  The train was No. 11, later 311, and was on New York Central lines, afterwards Penn Central and now Conrail. John W. Hatcher, retired assistant ticket agent at Union Station, reports the last passenger train ran Friday, April 30, 1971.  The Southwesterns passing through Muncie operated between New York City and St. Louis.  The Daleville station was raze several years ago.  Carl Wasson for many years was the agent and on retiring carried mail to and from trains.  (Star Photo by Dick Greene)"

"DALEVILLE BRICKS -- Horticulturist Martin Davis displays two souvenirs he has kept from Daleville's brickmaking past.  The dark one at the top, initialed with DBC is a a product of the Daleville Brick Company.  The light colored brick is a product of the Daleville Sand and Lime Brick Company.  The brick factories were located on Indiana Highway 67, one on Walnut Street and the other on Edwards Street.  The clay, sand and lime in the area furnished raw material for the brick-making."
